Shelby christian youth ministry
I was approached with the task of refreshing the logo for the student ministry at Shelby Christian Church in Shelbyville, Kentucky so that kids would be more drawn to participate.
The program wanted the new logo to appeal to the local community, keeping in mind that their slogan “Foundations of the City” puts the younger generations on the front lines of the Christian faith. Shelby Christian Youth Ministry wants to teach their children about the faith so that they themselves can spread the word, and establish the “city,” otherwise referred to as everlasting life in Christian ideology.
process
The original designs I had proposed included visuals of a basic city scape in order to be universally applicable, but the ministry eventually came back to say they wanted to include local Shelbyville architecture to better suit their audience. I went with the concept of an open book to be the grounding structure of the city to represent that the Bible, the Christian faith, will be the infrastructure for one’s spiritual life and ultimately eternal life in heaven.
finalized logo
With a few revisions, Shelby Christian and I came up with a design that included the silhouette of Shelby Christian itself with a few other local landmarks to ensure that the logo was unique to the city and church!
